How to Treat Dry Skin

Before you can properly treat dry skin, you need to know what's causing it. Here are common reasons people experience dry, itchy skin along with some simple solutions.

Some people have a dry skin ‘type’ and will be more prone to dryness because of that. If you’d like to determine your skin type, click here. Another reason for dry skin is that it can be a condition of environmental factors such as heat, cold or wind. The last couple of ways you can develop dry skin is by using the wrong products for your skin type and there may be a lack of essential healthy fats in your diet. All of these factors can cause your skin to feel tight, look dull and become inflamed. This causes redness and irritation. The great news is when dry skin is treated correctly, it will be healthy without any negative side effects.

If you are born with dry skin (meaning you have little to no visible pores) maintaining a daily moisturizing skincare routine is essential. Dry skin produces little to no sebum, which acts as your skin’s physical protective barrier, allowing skin to become vulnerable. This can lead to chapped, red, sore, tight and uncomfortable skin. By having a moisturizing skincare routine every day you are adding that protective barrier back to your skin, leaving skin looking and feeling healthy. Lemongrass Spa Products provides excellent skincare products, such as gentle cleansers, like the Lavender Goat’s Milk Facial Soap, to avoid stripping the skin and powerful oils in both the Organic Anti Aging Serum and Green Tea Antioxidant Serum as well as the Gentle Face Crème and Face Crème with Botanicals to provide the protection it needs to look its best.

Environmental factors and using incorrect products for your skin type are all considered conditions. This addresses everyone who does not have dry skin as his or her skin type but still experiences dryness. Unlike your skin type, which cannot be changed, conditions are things that can change daily and effect the way your skin appears. For instance, you could have an oily skin type but live somewhere with extreme heat or cold during certain times of the year. Due to these environmental factors, you could start having symptoms of dry skin. The treatment for dry skin is to apply the right kind of nourishing oil. To correct this condition, simply add Organic Anti Aging Oil Serum to your routine during the specific times you are experiencing these conditions. Skin might become dry while traveling on beach vacations, ski trips or sitting on an airplane. What you want to avoid if you experience dry skin (but do not have the dry skin type) is changing your entire routine. If you change your skincare routine over to products that are made for dry skin, which is a common tendency, eventually they start breaking out from adding and over-using too much oil to their daily routine. This is why making sure you are using the correct products for your skin type at all times instead of changing to a different skincare routine is important. This same method is also applied to dry skin that experiences breakouts. You do not want to change your skincare routine to one for oily/acne prone skin when you experience a couple blemishes. In the long run this will cause your skin to become even more imbalanced and stripped. You simply want to spot-treat the breakouts with either diluted Tea Tree Essential Oil or Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask . Making these simple changes can treat the different ways in which skin can become dry.

Healthy eating and self care are the most important and effective ways to keep skin in its best condition. If your skin type is dry, consulting with a nutritionist about adding healthy fats into your diet can tremendously improve any type of skin problem. Also keep in mind that certain medications and hormone imbalances can also cause dry skin. If you feel like you are experiencing dry skin due to either one of these issues, I recommend consulting with your doctor.

5 Anti-Aging Ingredients You Should be Using

Nature offers a bounty of botanicals to nourish, heal and thrive. We’re constantly reminded the importance of fueling our bodies with proteins, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids to maintain health, and what we feed our bodies effects the appearance of our skin. Aging is an integral part of life, but feeding the skin directly plays a key role in reducing the visible signs of aging in the skin.

Free radicals are produced through both natural processes and environmental stimulus and cause cells to breakdown over time, leading to signs of aging such as wrinkles and sagging skin. Antioxidants are anti-aging heroes sent to destroy free radicals and maintain skin’s elasticity, boost natural skin regeneration and reduce the signs of aging.

Here is a list of anti-aging superstars you should be using daily:

Argan Oil

Packed with vitamin E, essential fatty acids and antioxidants, argan oil works to improve texture by strengthening the bonding structures in skin, and improves appearance by fading dark spots. Argan oil seals in moisture, balances oil production and won’t clog pores.

Give the Gift of Healthy Skin

With the holiday season in full swing it’s important to take care of your skin. Festive parties and family gatherings require us to put our best face forward, and it all starts with a good skincare routine. Having a fresh, clean and natural skincare routine doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Here are three easy and quick (because who has a lot of time???) tips to get the best deals for those of us who are on a skincare budget.

Tip #1 Purchase skincare kits

Lemongrass Spa offers a variety of skincare kits ranging from a basic routine to a more advance routine. The best thing is they also offer them for a variety of different skin types! When you buy the face kits you are receiving full size products for an added discount then purchasing them individually. So to get the best bang for your buck I would advise in investing in a skin care kit! Another option is a Travel Face Care Kit; these trial sized kits make perfect stocking stuffers and are a great way for someone to try new products.

There are several face kits Lemongrass Spa offers: Basic #1 Dry or Sensitive Skin, Basic #2 Oily or Acne Prone Skin, Basic #3 Normal or Dry Skin, Basic #4 Oily or Acne Prone Skin, Ultimate for Normal or Dry Skin, Ultimate for Oily or Acne Prone, Ultimate with Prebiotics, Luxury System for Normal Skin, Luxury System for Dry Skin and Ultimate for Oily or Blemished Skin

Tip #2 Using skincare kits for multiple gifts
