5 Ways to Enhance Your Skincare Routine Using Essential Oils

Lemongrass Spa Products offers a variety of essential oils, with multiple uses and benefits to enrich and intensify your skincare routine. Below will explain what each essential oil is best used for and how to easily incorporate the into your everyday routine.

Essential Oils

  • Tea Tree helps combat acne.
  • Lavender helps decrease inflammation, irritation and redness.
  • Frankincense aids in reducing signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, lack of firmness and dull skin.
  • Lemongrass helps balance oil overproduced by the skin.
  • Geranium reduces the signs of aging and helps fight wrinkles.

How to Incorporate Essential Oils into Your Skin Care Routine

1) Add 1 drop of essential oil to 1 pump of Lemongrass Spa face crème, eye crème, serum or makeup primer.

2) Add 2-3 drops of essential oil to a warm washcloth or Lemongrass Spa’s Soft Boucle Facial Pads with Natural Cotton to improve your cleansing routine. If you like to steam your skin to cleanse your pores add 4-5 drops of essential oil per cup of water. This not only gives an aromatherapy effect but a deeper cleanse, too.

Keep Mature Skin Young, Bright and Healthy with Sheer Minerals

Hello Natural Beauties,

Recently I have seen many questions regarding more mature skin and its appearance with powdered mineral makeup. To this topic, I can speak with a bit of experience. A few precious months away from the big Five-Oh, I can tell you that I, like some of you, cannot wear the powdered minerals by themselves. Living in Colorado, my skin tends to be on the dry side and the powder alone can make my skin appear a little less youthful than I would like. I would LOVE to have the wrinkle and fine line free skin of my youth, but alas, those days are in my rearview mirror. However, hydrating and smoothing out the appearance of my skin with the Lemongrass Spa’s line of skin care and Sheer Minerals cosmetics is instrumental in keeping my skin healthy, moisturized and youthful.

Here are ten keys to keeping more mature skin looking young, bright and healthy:

  1. Dehydration is a wrinkles best friend. Drink plenty of water, herbal tea and juice.
  2. Pore Cleansing. When pores become congested with makeup, dead skin cells and dirt, they can appear larger and disrupt the smooth appearance of the skin. Using Microdermabrasion Crème and our clay-based facemasks once a week, as well as a daily toner, can cleanse and tighten the pores resulting in a smoother more youthful surface.
  3. Nightly Serum regime. I cannot express enough the difference I have seen in my skin since I began using the Organic Anti Aging Oil Serum. It has been astounding to see the change from dull and dry to bright and supple.
  4. Eye makeup remover. Pulling and stretching the skin around our eyes to remove makeup can damage the very delicate skin. Be gentle around this area that is so prone to damage. Use our emollient rich Organic Eye Makeup Remover for a dual-purpose eye makeup remover and vitamin rich healing moisturizer.
  5. Primer OR BB Crème. I wouldn't recommend using both since the BB crème acts as a primer serum and foundation in one and can create a little too much "slip" for your blush and eye color to stay in place. The last thing you need is to look like you are melting.
  6. If the BB Crème is not enough coverage for you, you can use both the powder and the BB Crème for a flawless finish. You can also combine your mineral foundation and your primer for the same effect. I like to tap a little bit of the powdered foundation into my Minerals Mate Mixing and Application Tray and then pump a small amount of BB Crème into a separate spot on the tray. Using my Kabuki Brush, I dab the brush into the BB Crème and then dip it into the powdered foundation and blend in a circular motion on my face. They blend beautifully and create a nice, light matte coverage without the tendency to "crack" in the wrinkles and fine lines.
  7. Onward and upward. Whatever you are putting on your face after the foundation, blend UP. Whether its eye shadow, blush or bronzer, defy the effects of gravity by blending color upward.
  8. Highlight to create a dewy look. Whatever blush or bronzer you have applied, mix it with a couple shakes of White Diamond Eye Shadow and dust on the prominent areas of your face (forehead, nose, cheekbones and chin) for a youthful sheen.
  9. Ending on the same note I began, hydration: Use your Mineral Setting Spray frequently throughout the day. Bring your makeup and skin back to life with a spritz of setting spray multiple times daily. It brightens the look of your makeup as well as moisturizes and plumps the skin. Neroli is also a fantastic anti-aging ingredient for the skin.
  10. Smile!! Nothing looks more youthful than a bright, welcoming smile.

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.” Audrey Hepburn

Olive Oil: From Dinner Table to Beauty Counter

Olive oil’s lush history is as deep and rich as the golden hued substance itself. Native to Mediterranean countries, ancient cultures used olive oil for a variety of every day purposes such as food, fuel, beauty and possibly currency, and evidence suggests production began over 5,000 years ago. Revered for its health benefits, olive oil is the number one recommended fat for cooking and is now a staple of modern kitchens, but olive oil’s health benefits don’t stop with food. Olive oil is used to maintain the health of skin, nails and hair.

Moisturizer

Dry skin leads to redness, flaking and cracking, especially in dry climates. Olive oil’s ability to penetrate deep into the skin to deliver nutrients and hydration restores skin’s suppleness. Olive oil paired with a gentle exfoliant like sea salt or sugar also helps renew skin’s natural glow by removing dead cells without stripping skin of its natural oils.

Weekly Facial Spa: 7 Steps to Combat Winter Dry Skin

The winter cold and wind can take the glow from your skin, robbing it of moisture, making your face feel tight and look dull, and leaving your lips flaky and peeling. If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and felt like you just can’t seem to apply enough moisturizing crème or you need more blush than you normally apply, you might just need to treat yourself to a facial spa. If you have dry, flaky skin, your makeup and face crème sit on top of that dry layer. Think of it as applying a coat of fresh, new paint to a piece of wood on top of old, dry and peeling paint. The new paint can’t soak into the wood, and the skin works much the same.

Follow the 7 steps below to bring the radiance back to your face:

Step 1: Cleanse. Using your favorite Lemongrass Spa Products’ facial cleansing gel or bar soap, gently cleanse your face and neck. Always include your neck in any facial regime.

Step 2: Steam. Steam helps to lift and separate the dead, rough and flaky areas from your skin and open your pores. Place a warm, wet washcloth on your face and neck. Using a larger cloth like a hand towel allows you to cover the neck as well. You should not experience any discomfort while steaming. Make sure your cloth is not too hot before applying to your face by testing it on a tender portion of your arm like the wrist or inside of the elbow. Let the cloth remain on your face and neck for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3: Exfoliate. Remove the cloth and while your skin is still moist, begin to exfoliate using Microdermabrasion Crème.  Be gentle. It’s easier to judge your pressure when you apply with your fingertips. Work in a circular motion. Your skin is warm and soft and your pores are open from the steam, so it will not take much pressure to exfoliate. Let the product do the work, not the pressure. Be sure to hit the areas where dry skin can build up like the corners of the nose and avoid around the tender eye area. Rinse and pat dry with a soft towel.

2014 Year in Review

From opening a second distribution center in Florida to launching the revolutionary Prebiotic Body Wash to being named to the Top 100 Women Owned Companies, 2014 has been an incredible year for growth and opportunity. Here's our 2014 year in review.

Products

The introduction of innovative new products is one of the key elements in engaging our customers and creating excitement for our sales consultants. Roll-on deodorant in Fresh, Sport, Lavender and Unscented were introduced at the beginning of 2014. We launched a revolutionary Prebiotic Body Wash at our annual convention in Denver, Colorado in July. This organic, GMO-free product works on a molecular level by stimulating good microorganisms on the skin and promoting collagen production. Green Concealing Stick corrector, Organic Eye Makeup Remover, Stardust and Red Hot Lip Glosses, and Coral Blush were newcomers to the Sheer Minerals Makeup line. The Men’s Essentials organic skincare line was introduced featuring Shaving Crème, Body Wash, After Shave Lotion and Cleansing Gel, specially formulated for guys. Aromatherapy Mists featuring certified organic essential oil blends were introduced in five blends: Purifying Tea Tree, Lavender Relaxation, Citrus Refresher, Mint Revival and Balancing Act!

Community

We are incredibly grateful to the members of the community in Pine, Colorado who have supported us over the years. Five new employees were hired to help our expansion efforts, and we leased four additional suites in the business plaza. In July we began manufacturing and shipping from our second distribution center in Tarpon Springs, Florida with 10,000 square feet of office and warehouse space. Fourteen full-time team members are currently employed there. With both facilities fully operational, we realized a 2 to 4 day reduction in the turnaround time in shipping orders during the peak volumes: end-of-month and the holiday selling season.

Hello Natural Beauties,

It’s time to say goodbye to another year! But don’t say goodbye without leaving a little sparkle as you go!

The trends for this New Year’s Eve and holiday celebrations are all about glitz, glamour and sparkle with an “old Hollywood” feel. Whether you’re ringing in the New Year or dressing up for another holiday soiree, this season’s look is all about sequins, glitter and red carpet elegance.

As most ladies know, it can be expensive to achieve that Hollywood glamour look, especially for one special night. Lemongrass Spa Products has got you covered! Here are a few head-to-toe tips to keep you on the cutting edge without cutting into your bank account:

  • If you’re wearing a lower neckline, don’t neglect your décolleté! Apply a light dusting of White Diamond.
  • Looking for that perfect dress without breaking into next year’s savings? Take a look at thrift stores. You will be amazed at the selection and variety you can find. Many have been worn only once and some even still have the tags on! I have personally found designer cocktail dresses with tags still on for under $10. Look for rhinestones and sequins to BLING in the New Year!
  • Lemongrass Ladies do not need to spend tons of money on hosiery to make their legs look fabulous. We have our amazing, emollient-rich Tangerine and Amber Glow Bronzing Butters to add a little color and glow. And if you can handle an all-nighter in heels, nothing makes your calves look more toned and sculpted than a little bit of height.
  • If you are having a hard time finding the right color or style of shoe, again, try a thrift store. Even if you find the right style for the right price but the wrong color, buy them anyway! Take your dress with you to a local craft store, pick up some mod podge or fabric glue and match your dress to a glitter color (most craft stores have a huge array of colors). Lay out newspaper and pour out an ample amount of glitter. Apply a thin layer of glue all over the shoe with a sponge brush, let them dry slightly to where it’s tacky but not too wet and apply the glitter to your shoes. Let dry and… voila! Toto, we are not in Kansas anymore!

Last, but certainly not least…plan ahead and have a Cucumber Foot Care Kit on hand for January 1, 2015. Your feet will thank you after dancing the night or season away!

Hello, Natural Beauties! It’s the holiday season and time for parties and gatherings of friends, family, co-workers and clients. This year, instead of doing your everyday makeup routine for that special occasion or spa party, I challenge you to step out of the box! It’s makeup…it washes off. Try something new! If you normally do a neutral eye, try a dramatic cat eye! If your lip color du jour is always Princess Pearl Organic Lipstick, I dare you to try Cocoa Berry! But choose one or the other: a dramatic eye and a neutral lip OR a dramatic lip and a neutral eye is the way to go. Pinterest is a veritable treasure trove of makeup instruction.

Find a look you like, send the family to a movie, get out your Sheer Minerals and PLAY! Or better yet, have a holiday Sheer Minerals open house. Have each guest as they arrive pull one of our 12 eye instruction cards out of a festive holiday gift box or stocking and then create that look on themselves! Take before and after pictures and have fun!

Here are some 2014 holiday trends to keep you on the edge of fashion when putting together your Holiday Party look:

  1. Long locks with braids or romantic spiral curls. Have short hair? You can purchase clip-in extensions at most accessory shops for a quick and fun transformation.
  2. Jewel tones. Take a look at a color wheel and choose a color on the opposite side of your eye color for a wow factor. Blue-eyed babes pop in bronzes and copper tones, green-eyed gals glow in reds and plums, and brown-eyed bombshells are brilliant in blues. This is a good rule of thumb when choosing clothing as well as Sheer Minerals eye shadows!
  3. Thick brows. Following the natural arch of your eyebrows and just outside of their natural boundaries, fill and shape brows with one of our Sheer Minerals eye shadows that matches, or is slightly darker than your natural brow color. Very lightly dampen your eyeliner brush so the color sets and stays put.
  4. Dramatic “false” eyelashes. Create this look easily with very light dusting of Sheer Minerals Matte Veil and an application of Organic Mascara in Matte Brown or Matte Black over top. More drama? Lightly dust a second time after the first has dried and repeat. Move your mascara wand back and forth as you apply to avoid clumping and “spider legs.”
  5. Bold full lip. If you are choosing to highlight your lips rather than your eyes, line your lips with one of our three beautiful Sheer Minerals Natural Lip Liners on the outermost edge of your lips, avoiding going outside of the edge too much. Apply your favorite shade of Organic Lipstick with the lip brush included in your Eight Piece Bamboo Brush Set. Cocoa Berry Organic Lipstick complements all skin tones. There is a reason it is one of our best-selling shades—it is stunning! For staying power, place a piece of tissue over the freshly applied color and dust over the tissue with Matte Veil using your Foundation Brush. If lipstick is not your personal preference, choose a Sheer Minerals Organic Lip Gloss shade that suits your look. The shine can add a fuller look to your lip. Plum Spice is a beautiful holiday shade. If your eyes are the focus, a neutral lip color like Bare Champagne topped with Stardust Organic Lip Gloss will allow your eyes to take center stage without denying your lips from being in the spotlight as well.

Whichever holiday look you choose, remember to pop your Sheer Minerals Mineral Setting Spray and your Essentials Brush Set in your purse for a quick color refresher and touch ups.
