Year in Review 2016
2016 was brimming with hot new products, savvy new events, social media parties and more followers than ever. Take a road trip down memory lane as we celebrate our 2016 Year In Review!
You’ll find products most admired by customers in the Top 20 Products of the Year photo, featured above. Topping the list again this year are the Healing Elements Balms, soap bars including Tea Tree, Oatmeal Milk & Honey, Lavender Goat's Milk and Frosted Cranberry; BB Crème makeup and loose mineral Foundation and Matte Black Organic Mascara; plus a variety of body care and skincare products people use everyday.
The introduction of innovative new products is one of the key elements in engaging our customers and creating excitement for our sales consultants. In the spring, we released refreshing new Strawberry Lemonade and it was a huge hit with a wide variety of people of all ages. As part of our commitment in offering safer alternatives to families we unveiled a brand-new Deodorant Spray and Paste Deodorant utilizing certified organic essential oils, baking soda and odor-fighting ingredients. New Prebiotic Hand Wash was introduced to help provide a safe solution to harsh sanitizers and dish soap at the kitchen sink.
In the fall our ‘Products with a Purpose’ initiative propelled sales upward with the popularity of Soothing and Recovery Balms. These purposeful balms infused with botanicals and essential oil blends help reduce common muscle soreness, body pain and fatigue with all-natural ingredients. For the men, we added a popular Beard Oil that doubles as a hair serum for the ladies and for nursing moms, we introduced Organic Nursing Balm for healing delicate skin. To complement the addition of a few new essential oils we added a chic new Welcome Home Diffuser for large living areas and Wall Diffuser for small spaces like hallways and restrooms. We launched a revolutionary Prebiotic 3-in-1 Wash in both Unscented or Men’s Essentials scent. This organic, GMO-free product works on a molecular level by stimulating good microorganisms on the skin and promoting collagen production. It serves as a shampoo, body wash and facial wash in the shower. An exotic new floral scent, Midnight Orchid, was introduced and quickly became a customer favorite among women. For the holiday season we introduced new Snickerdoodle products and brought back perennial picks: Candy Cane and Frosted Cranberry.
As part of our Giving Back Campaign in 2016 we were very intentional about gifting our therapeutic products to those in need. Over 700 Loving Care Gift Sets were sent to cancer patients nationwide. Nominations were received the entire month of October and the product trio consisting of Healing Elements, Nail Balm and Ultra Hydrating Body Crème were sent to recipients. Over 600 Freedom Feet Foot Kits were shipped overseas to deployed women and men in the armed forces. During the breast cancer awareness campaign Lemongrass Spa Products donated $1 for every ‘pink’ item sold, resulting in a cash donation of $3000 to the Breast Cancer Fund. Dozens of other local charities, schools and non-profits including Dress for Success, the Ronald McDonald House and more received donations of products and funds from the corporate office and consultants.
We are incredibly grateful to the members of the community in Pine, Colorado and Tarpon Springs, Florida for supporting the mission of Lemongrass Spa Products. Thirty five team members are employed in Florida and fifteen in Colorado, working in tandem to manufacture and offer customer support to our field and customers. In the summer an additional building was leased in Florida that serves as our shipping warehouse to be able to accommodate all of the product fulfilment for the company. During the peak holiday season in December alone, there were 12,500 packages shipped from our warehouse to homes all over the US and some APO’s overseas.
Some esthetic and functionality improvements were made on our corporate and replicated websites. Our web presence on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest climbed drastically in 2016, as our attention to social media continued as a top-shelf priority. Instagram followers increased over 100% this year and engagement on our Facebook page is at an all-time high. The weekly blog has gained a strong following as in-house authors post articles about Mineral Makeup, Consultant Spotlights, essential oil usage, skincare application techniques and ingredient wow factors. Dozens of videos were introduced including makeup tutorials that were enjoyed by thousands of viewers.
Lemongrass Spa launched a new consultant video and audio training program on its Lemongrass University website with the cooperation of key corporate staff and Belinda Ellsworth of Step into Success. It has been an excellent resource for new consultants as they join the company. At the end of 2016 a new Restart Rewards initiative was introduced that will launch on January 1, 2017. The program offers incentives for all existing consultants to reboot their business and earn rewards such as blingwear, tablecloths, Peridot and Diamond Rings or logo beach chairs!
Our Let It Grow 2016 Convention was held in sunny Tampa, Florida with consultants attending from around the globe! We were honored to welcome to the stage an amazing lineup of powerhouse speakers including Becky Spieth with Leaders Empowered, Karen Clark with My Business Presence and Belinda Ellsworth with Step Into Success. During our intensive training sessions consultants were given the most up-to-date direct selling training available today. We introduced two new event models: Spa Escapes and Spa Spectaculars with a presentation on how to organize them in local communities.
Our annual Awards Night Celebration was the highlight of the weekend as we celebrated the successes of consultants at all phases of their business. From Jump Start Rewards, Director recognition, Dynamic Dozen in sales, top recruiters and Spa Destination earners, this show-stopping evening was incredibly memorable. The following day we revealed the new products and catalog for the fall/winter season and provided consultants with an ‘expo-style’ workshop where they heard business enhancing ideas from top leaders. The corporate team comprised of Heather Johnson, Angie Conrad, Jennifer Dusza, Kathy Yellets, Bethany Morgante and Vimari Roman created and executed this yearly event with ease.
Forty consultants promoted to Director title in 2016 with over $38,000 in special bonuses awarded. Advanced leadership promotions among another thirty directors were celebrated with increased commission checks, promotion bonuses, sterling silver bracelets and keepsake plaques.
The Jump Start Rewards program continued to be extremely rewarding for new consultants; hundreds of free items were awarded including bling shirts, tablecloths, product bonuses, Peridot and Diamond Rings and more!
The Spa Destination Incentive Trip to the exotic beaches of Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya was one of the highlights of the year. Twenty couples traveled to Paradisus All-Inclusive Resort in June and were pampered at the Yhi Spa, enjoyed delightful international cuisine and participated in beachfront excursions and a snorkeling tour.
Colorado Biz Magazine named Lemongrass Spa Products, LLC to its prestigious Top 100 Ownd Companies in the state and on the list of the top 250 Manufacturers. The Direct Selling Association in Washington, D.C. congratulated us on our 4th year of membership in good standing as well as in the Direct Selling Women’s Association, of which we’ve been members since 2008. Home Party Rankings listed Lemongrass Spa Products as a Top Trending direct selling company throughout the year and the company was featured in the Colorado Spa Magazine with a story about Healing Elements. Lemongrass Spa Products founder and CEO, Heidi Leist attended the DSA Sales and Marketing Conference in Las Vegas and was featured as a speaker on their expert panel during the new member Boot Camp in December.
Because of the loyalty of our customers and the efforts of our incredible sales force, we experienced a 25% growth in sales year over year from 2015 along with 20% increase in recruitment. With over 5000 sales consultants across the country, we’ve increased the number of consultants in nearly every state in the US and military stationed overseas.
With 2017 here, what plans do we have for continuing the momentum in the natural skincare world? We’re kicking off the year with a Leadership Retreat in Charlotte, NC in January to renew our relationships with leaders. We will focus on strengthening our sales force with outstanding training tools and events, creating fresh new organic products and continuing our soaring social media presence. We plan to unveil a variety of new videos for our training library and for social media advertising. Developing more leaders within our sales force will come from exceptional new emerging programs in the first quarter of 2017. Our goal is to exceed the growth rate from last year, building stronger, lasting relationships through regional training events, social media campaigns, contests and incentives to reward our field.
